Tour Grayson's Farms & Wineries

While you are here, tour some of our beautiful Farms and Wineries! Grayson County is a strong agricultural county and we are always eager to show off all of the delicious and nutritious products produced right in our beautiful county!

For a glimpse back in time, visit the Matthews Living History Farm Museum. This 21 acre demonstrative farm offers programs in gardening, antique tractors, sheep shearing, craft demonstrations, open hearth cooking and more. The farm is available to the public year round, please check the schedule for special events.

Owl's Nest is a working farm and a very comfortable B&B retreat that's only minutes from activities like kayaking/canoeing/ tubing on the New River or walking/biking the New River Trail. The Jefferson National Forest and Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area also provide hours of adventure with stupendous views. Ride their farm trails for the day, or spend several days on horse trails that extend all the way to Grayson Highlands State Park. Plan a trip to the farm for a guided trail ride or to see apple cider making demonstrations in the fall.  You will always be comfortable and never be bored!

Visit Osborne's Farm and Nursery for locally grown flowers and vegetable seedlings. Pumpkins, gourds, and straw available for your autumn delight.

Mt. Vale Vineyard and Winery encompasses 38 acres in the Mt. Vale Community of Galax, VA, and is only 4 miles from the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Call to plan a tour or your next special event.

Laurel Hill Nursery, LLC is a family owned and operated nursery specializing in daylilies of all varieties. They are located in a peaceful hollow in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia.

The Farmers Market in Independence has a variety of fruits/vegetables, locally raised meats and eggs, flowers, crafts, and canned/baked goods. Recipes, weekly kids activities, monthly festivals, growers workshops, cooking classes, and more can also be found there.

With advance notice, visitors will receive a tour of the farm, including our free-range, egg-laying chickens, pastured-meat chickens, rabbits, and sheep. For more information, visit their website.

Grayson County Youth Livestock Show

The Grayson Youth Livestock Show provides an opportunity for youth to showcase their livestock and handling skills. This is fun for the whole family. For entry forms, please visit the website​
