Ring in the New Year with a refreshing First Day Hike in the high country. Meet the park ranger at Massie Gap field for a 2.5-mile round trip hike to explore Grayson Highlands State Park in the winter. Experience the wild weather, rugged geology, and mountain creatures of the highest state park in Virginia.

Be prepared for the possibility of inclement weather such as snow or ice. Please wear good hiking boots, dress warmly, and be sure to bring a snack and some water.

This is a FREE parking day for all Virginia State Parks.
