Fries Musical Heritage Festival

The Fries Community Center will present its first annual Fries Musical Heritage Festival on Saturday, May 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Due to the likelihood of rain on Saturday, May 14,, The Fries Musical Heritage Festival will be held at the Fries Community Center, 316 W. Main Street.


Free parking is available at the Fries River Park.  There will be a shuttle bus running to transport people to and from the Community Center.  Please join us for great music, great raffles, great food and great fun.  There is no admission charge to get into the festival.


The Fries Wildcats, The Crooked Road Ramblers, The Poison Branch Band and Donald White will perform Old Time and Country music from our stage with the impressive Fries Dam as their backdrop.  The Fries Caboose Snack Bar will serve hot dogs and their Norfolk &Western sundaes. The Fries Community Center staff will serve their famous hamburgers.  Vendors will display local crafts and wares.


The festival is free. To raise money for the important work of the Community Center, there will be lots of raffles, including two Feature Raffles. Tom Barr, owner of Barr’s Fiddle Shop will donate a wormy chestnut dulcimer.  One lucky person will win a ductless mini-split heater and air conditioner, an $1800 retail value, donated by Virginia Carolina Heating & Cooling.


Other donated raffle items include a Vaughan Bassett nightstand and mirror, a ¾ Mitchell electric guitar, a beautiful framed portrait of renowned dulcimer player Mary Faith created by Willard Gayheart, historic Fries posters from Barr’s Fiddle Shop, Old Time and Country records from Dave’s Record Shop,  a dobro-shaped cake baked by the Fries Café, a dessert cake baked by Galax Cakery, a $100 Gift Certificate from the Fries Double AA Mart, a $50 Gift Certificate from New River Outdoor Adventures, a sterling silver bracelet from Roy’s Diamond Center, an American flag and pole from Parker’s Building Supply and much more!
